mystery vine...

I'm putting this out there to my vast loyal readership ;)

This crazy vine has sprung up in our vegie patch, and I'm darned if I know what it is... Do you have any ideas??

It looks and grows like a pumpkin vine, and the little baby squash are about 40-50mm in diameter (anyone reading this in the US of A, think about an inch and a half to two).

The fruit start off green, then seem to yellow off... I'm not sure if they're rotting or ripening!! Nothing's getting any larger than these, and so I snipped these two little ones and brought them inside to see if they'll ripen.

Don't you just love self-sown surprises?

Bris Vegas...

Every time I return to my hometown, I find something changed from my last visit! Since I left 15 years ago, it's unrecognisable.

One of my favourite precincts in Brisbane is the area in South Brisbane, covering the Queensland Art Gallery, the State Library, the Queensland Museum and the Gallery of Modern Art (with one of the best shops around! This is where I spotted the gorgeous book of photographs above by artist Sandra Kantanen). The Performing Arts Centre is just across the road too.

Southbank in general leaves me pretty cold, but I had a beautiful dinner with my dear sis at a squisito Italian restaurant, along a great strip of restaurants on Grey Street.

This was after a screening of Sigur Ros' "Inni", at GOMA... the only one in Australia so far. Lucky me!

Everything grows crazy double-fast in Queensland...

The Queensland Art Gallery by architect Robin Gibson will always be one of my favourite buildings in Brisbane. It's simply stunning.

And QAG owns a beautiful Richard Long Sculpture "Stone Circle", and had just installed it for a period on display. Double lucky me!

Drawing on the plane trip home - always a pleasure.

Star Wars birthday...

And may the force be with you, Wil...

I hope this cake was an improvement on last year's Thomas the Tank Engine fiasco...

new work...

The residential project I've been working on for the past year or so is finally finished. With just a few small bits and pieces to finish, like the garden and some fencing, the clients are in and very happy! Yay!

This amazing light is the Twolve by Belgian lighting company Dark.

The lovely photos were taken by Nina Korea - thanks Nina!!
